These owls are amazing. They mimic their environment (usually dead branches, but trees in general) perfectly, with an amazing combination of perching dead still and wonderful camouflage. This one (and its partner) live in a tree at my place of work.

The cliff face around the Wentworth Falls area is a have for sulphur crested cockatoos. The view from the track is quite spectacular.
The Ruined Castle is a rock feature that many people visit on the way to Mount Solitary. It looks small here, but in reality is a huge pile of rock, towering above you. Some people climb right to the top spire.

I was watching the sunset and noticed loads of gulls flying around. The sunset was great and there were boats in the bay - the bird makes the image that little bit more interesting.

This "mountain" is a popular overnight stop for people traversing the Jameson Valley. The path can faintly be seen at the right hand side (one third of the way in). It is rather easy to get lost - if you are not concentrating on where you go - but once on the track is not too bad.
These walls are scattered all around the property at Turon Gates. They were built by Chinese miners during the 1850s gold rush to carry water from the river, allowing them to find gold.

Mount Solitary features heavily in my images of the Jameson Valley. Perhaps it is because when I first moved to Australia my wife dragged me on an overnight hike - up and over that lump of rock - in the middle of summer (Ihad just arrived from an English winter!). At the time I moaned about heat, hunger and thirst, but the memories have softened and are a wonderful part of my introduction to this wide brown land.
